Wolly - I think you hit the nail on the head in that this is a very dangerous precedent.

Re: Poll: Are you a Day One upgrader?

September 16, 2009 by wadehindell

I'm also using Windows 7 RTM I have both a 32 and 64 bit install.  I tried the beta and really liked it as it made my netbook (Lenovo S10) fly.   I never even installed vista on any of machines.  I stuck with XP as it worked well enough for what I wanted to do.  Only in the past six months did I start to have issues when I started to tinker with HD video.  I found that XP struggled both from a playback and processing perspective.

Anyway I am really liking Win7 so far no issues and I have managed to get everything that I need to work on my main 64bit installation.

I installed Avast (home) on both installations of Win7 that I have 32 and 64bit and I have had not issues since installing.

What do you think of this concept, I know there are FREE software solutions which will provide the same solution.  But this is seems to be pretty easy to set up and go.  I am sure that the herne will have something to say about this.  :)

Re: iPhone Tethering

@tom125 brilliant let is know how you get on.

I have just downloaded another app call ooTunes which basically enables you to listen to any radio station which has a live stream. This is brilliant for me as I am an Englishman in New York, I can now listen to all my favorite old radio stations from London on my walk to work.

It is $3.99 which is a little steep for an iPhone app, but it is one of those apps which actually works well, and does what the wrapper says.

Home Screen

Search Capability

Playing a station

250Mb per month, I have had my phone for about 5 months now and I have never reset the stats page...

250Mb would not work to well for me.  I listen the XM satelite radio on my comute and sometimes to Pandora.

AT&T make you pay an extra $15-20 per month in addition to the $40 that we already pay for unlimited data.

Back-Up's

August 31, 2009 by wadehindell

Like most of you I have the normally collection of external hard drives in various sizes getting larger and larger.

I think I am finally going to take the plunge and enroll in one of the on-line back up service.  A couple which I have been looking at

Does anyone have any experience with these service or can you recommend any others, I have close to 500Gb which I am looking to back up mostly photos (jpg) and Video (AVCHD).

iPhone Tethering

August 31, 2009 by wadehindell

About a week ago someone sent me this link which claims to be able to install the network profile that you need to enable tethering for your iPhone with having to jail break it.

http://www.benm.at/2009/06/13/helpbenmat/

So I went to the site and installed the profile for AT&T here in the USA.  It actually works, I have been able to set up both USB and bluetooth connectivity on my iPhone.  On top of that the it is actually pretty fast.
