I'm watching the keynote from this week and wondering if anyone made the leap to iTunes9.
I've used the new "arrange your desktop" tool but jailbroken iPhones could always do that albeit in a more painful way.
iTunes LP sounds interesting but the devil's in the details.
Home sharing sounds like Simplify Media taken to an entirely new and splendid level.
Is it a great upgrade?
Haven't upgraded yet. Was trying to get my iMac backed up before I installed the OS updates which includes Safari, Quicktime, iTunes, etc. Procrastination FTW!
Also trying to decide if it's worth it to pay $5 US to upgrade my iPod software. It kinda annoys me that I have to PAY for the upgrade...
I can't upgrade my OS to Snow Leopard because I need to be able to use Adobe CS2 and Snow Leopard does not support it...
I have not updated as yet. I have not upgraded my iPhone either... I know it is going to be a PITA - It is going to brick itself then I'll have to reset it on another computer and then resync which is reportedly taking forever using the new version of iTunes... Avoiding it like the plague.
Positive thinking there Dave!
I've got iTunes 9 and iPhone 3.1 working fine. No issues whatsoever with the installation (once I got Snow Leopard to see my iPhone but that's another story!).
On iTunes 9... I think I'm getting old. I don't really like change. It annoys me that they've modified the look and feel again, so soon after Snow Leopard, which would have been a perfect opportunity to unify all the different UI elements that have crept into OSX.
I know that they use iTunes as a bit of a trail blazer, but why does it need its own different scroll bars, why does it need a slightly more plasticy title bar, why are the progress bars different to any other app. I don't dislike the interface, but it's annoying that it's so different to other apps.
As for home sharing - quite good I guess. You could always stream music from one computer to another on your home network, but now you can copy the files too (as I understand it... I haven't actually done it).
On the iPhone upgrade - the ability to move icons around the home screens from iTunes is fantastic. The one downside I have heard is that it breaks the internet tethering workarounds. Doesn't affect me though as Voda lets you tether for free anyway, but if you're on OptArse or AT&T you won't be able to tether, or you'll have to pay to add it legally.
I think the look of iTunes 9 is a step backwards, to be honest. It looks washed out...anyone else agree?
I was stupid and did not read the forums and I upgraded ti tunes9 and 3.1 on the phone, and I broke my tethering from http://hellp.benm.at/help.php - bugger.
I'm really regret my upgrade to 9... made the jump to 9.0.1 which will hopefully stop my MBP from breaking my Touch every time I plug it in to charge.... I had sync disabled but the damn thing would reset my position within podcasts, mark everything new and then crash... grrrr
Took me the usual 3 hour marathon to upgrade the iPhone and I hate iTunes 9... nuf said
Was that to go to 3.1? That took me an hour - but the majority of that was syncing all the crap I have on it. The actual update took about 30 mins. I did 3.1.2 this morning and it took about 20 mins from clicking upgrade to finishing.
Sounds like something's going wrong with yours. What bit did it slow down on? Could be worth resetting everything and starting again?
