You're saving up for a sex change so you can call yourself Elizabeth? I've got a pair of scissors I could lend you...

Geez... my condo only cost me about $180k for nearly 1000 sq ft. The condo fees are a bit more than I wanted to spend, but it includes everything except Internet and phone... and I rent my parking space out, which pays for my Internet, so I'm only paying extra for phone! Go me!

@woollymittens

It's not bad. Three floors?

I thought NL had free housing. I guess that's only if you're on state aide!

hahah

@Tom125 - Ha! Nice one. If that's what it takes to get a visa, I'd rather try Canada. :)

@herne - Yes, but you still live in Canada. :)

@erice - In NL, nothing is free. Typically Dutch: Every public utility is privatized AND taxed... that way the state can claim they provide it and corporations can ask what they want.

I dont currently have the spare cash for anything because of the bills that keep stacking up.

They are in priority

Internet Service
Mobile phone
Utility bills
Sat TV (my wife thinks this is high but I place it lower)
Car payment
Credit cards

These guys have been draining me Oh that and also the POS health insurance we have of which I am paying 12% of my annual income on.

Such is the state of our awful situation. I would like a new mobile phone - my (very stupid 2 year) contract expires in May. I of course would like an iphone but I saw the at&t packages and they would only do more damage to us in addition to the mounting bills.

So I will probably stick with Verizon, which yes, their customer service is good very good. They also have the best coverage. I know in the city it doesn't matter because they all have good coverage in the city, but we like to take drives and the coverage has to be there. Verizon seems to have good coverage.

I heard the Pre will be coming to Verizon in January and I think I will go with that -as a true geek. I also heard a rumor that you will be able to use the andriod software on it with VZW's ok. I HATE verizon for the fact that their handsets suck, (from 2005 onward to today) and they limit you to handsets, crappy LG and Motorolla handsets that no one wants.

So yeah in May I will probably get  a Pre if its available. If not, Ill get a blackberry, but not that POS storm crap.

I would also like to at least get an ipod touch. If it turns out unaffordable by the time my tax refund comes along (I plan to try and get out of debt with it) I may just go with one of those nifty new ipod nanos.

Sorry to bring rain to a light hearted discussion, but I am sure this is the same all over due to the economy. the Cost of living has risen to all time high levels, but income has not matched it. In this country, healthcare is troubling. I, as I said pay 12% of my income on health insurance and I still have medical bills, because the insurance company thinks they need my money more than the doctors need to be paid.

Lat year we got moved to a HSA (Health Savings Account) for our out of pocket contributions.  This has had a big impact on our available funds.

yep good deal.

I am considering HSA sounds like a better way to me. Pay the doctors not the insurance companies.

I don't own a mobile phone, nor do I own a car. We have universal health care here in Ontario, but you end up waiting for a lot of things. You pay into the health care plan depending on your income bracket, I think I pay $450 a year (and I haven't used it in about 20 yrs). We have to pay our own dental and eye care though, I have coverage through work for dental, drugs, and various other things.

I would like to purchase the new Canon 7D for myself for Xmas, but doesn't look good. I might get myself a big flatscreen TV and a PS3 instead, probably cheaper.

I went on holidays since I put up my wish list. Now I'm saving up to pay my credit card bill instead of for the new system. :P

But more importantly you enjoyed life and got to see the motherland.

I'm totally joking about the Motherland thing.

I preordred the N900 from Dell yesterday.

From what I hear they cancel most smartphone orders if you use a coupon.

I should know in 10 days.

So I bought a Flip HD camera and given how small it is,  the video that it outputs is very good!  Here is a sample of some video that I took.

@wade

The picture quality is nice. I'm surprised.

The camcorder of the 80s has returned but now it's the size of a mobile.

heh.

I may consider one of those.

Considering the size of the thing the quality if fantastic.  I also love the fact that the usb connector just flips out (also used to charge the battery) and that it also has the software which you need to do simple edits on the device so you can plug it into anyone's machine install the app and be editing and uploading in minutes.
