OK so I was getting my bit of A.S.S today driving to work and the guys mentioned keepass.
So I googled keepass and found
http://keepass.info/
http://www.keepassx.org/
http://keepass.com/
and what seems a myriad of other keepass options. So a bit confused I looked at the show notes and found the link to http://www.keepassx.org/ all good
So my questions are:
Are these related?
Are the others safe or worth looking at etc?
Should there have been a mention of the other keypass options and to make sure you to get the correct one?
I'm still wondering if it's pronounced kee-pass or keep-ass.
You can keepass or lose-ass. ![]()
@sighko The first 2 are related - sort of. The last one looks a bit dodge to me. Glad you found the right links in the show notes :)
keepass.info is the one that I have used as a portable version. It is Windows only and available as a desktop installed version and a portable version.
The story on KeepassX is this from the website and we covered this on the show:
"Originally KeePassX was called KeePass/L for Linux since it was a port of Windows password manager Keepass Password Safe.
After KeePass/L became a cross platform application the name was not
appropriate anymore and therefore, on 22 March 2006 it has been changed."
The original Keepass Password Safe is still available and that is the second link that you have there. It is however Windows only. Available as a poratable version and installed desktop version as well.
As I said the 3rd one looks a bit dodgy when you compare it to the original sites. I always go to the origianl sites and this is why we include links in the show notes. We did cover both applications in the show though :)
If anyone knows a bit more info feel free to add it on. Hope that helps!
I use Keepass portable which can be downloaded from here http://keepass.info/download.html
It's a good program
