I'm looking for suggestions.

It's a bit slow for freenas.
router/Firewall is boring.

Some kind of media streaming

If you've got a boat use it for an anchor.

Real anchors!

My dad is a 6th generation sailor.

I watch some of the knightwise content but I guess I missed anything appliance related.

I'll go poke around.

There's no such thing as recycling in most of the united states. I live in the center of the land of fruits and nuts [ the SF bay ] so we're a little closer to "normal" as far as developed nations go but we still have throngs of environmentally unfriendly bozos.

Last time I asked my dad's electronics shop to recycle my batteries they just looked at me funny. Luckily Radio Shack will take them.

@Eric really? You don't have recycle bins for each house?

Thanks mattchrisoid!

cait, nope. almost nowhere to be found, other than large enterprises like my office. i mean sometimes you see a yard waste or paper bin but i dont see glass, plastic or aluminum at houses anymore. i assume it's all sorted by children in developing nations. non residential areas might be strict but i've only hear of it in sunnyvale.

The only comment I've heard from Americans regarding recycling was, "Recycling is stupid!"

They're taught that when something breaks or when you're bored with it, you just throw it into the landfill.

I'm not sure I've heard that. I would say a lot of people in my family go out of their way to recycle, but that's in California.

I dont think my parent's friends back in Illinois have any concept of recycling.

I know our TX branch hands out giant packets of paper every chance they get...

Anyway. I guess I'll look at VPN this weekend.

VPN + media streaming

Recycling was intruded with a lot of publicity in the Netherlands. We have trash-containers, glass-containers, paper-containers, plastic-containers and green-containers to separate everything.

Then once a week a truck comes to your street and tosses everything on the same giant pile at the landfill. They say this is to get us used to a time when they will actually recycle things, but that was 10 years ago.

Also, that "storyofstuff" thing is truly scary.

Forgot. One great thing my employer did is give out mugs and take away the disposable cups.

It's oddly comforting to see the manager walking around with a giant mug with a giraffe face on it.

We have "branded" company mugs they gave out one Xmas... and we also have branded stainless steel thermoses... So basically I could fill up my thermos, fill up my mug and have enough coffee for 90 minutes of working!

@erice51 back to the original topic - If you're into retro gaming at all, why not a benchtop mame machine like this one: http://www.koenigs.dk/mame/eng/stepweecade.htm

That is sweeeet.  I think though that I should build the stands for my back 5.1 speakers first though.

We need an arcade cabinet like that in the office. I really need me some 1942 after dealing with a customer. ;)

Still cant decide... my brisbane core fake-HTPC and visiting Gran will waste this weekend... more GRRRRRR....
