VLC has just released a new version of their media player.

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

This is my favourite video player. I also use it for streaming internet radio.

It's currently being downloaded at a rate of 12 copies per second and is up to 246,000 downloads - I think that it was only released today.

* It is a free cross-platform media player
* It supports a large number of multimedia formats, without the need for additional codecs
* It can also be used as a streaming server, with extended features (video on demand, on the fly transcoding, ...and lots more)

Well known for it's goodness Matt and not surprised at the download rate. Thanks for keeping us up to date and the first to post something in the category. Thanks mate!

Hi,

I have used VLC for ages. Since installing this version at startup VLC reports "entry point not found" errors. If I just click they go away and the play will play normally.

Anyone else seen this issue?

Cheers

Praise the deity of your choice. VLC lives!

@sighko time to try out Ubuntu? might run a bit quicker, and VLC should run beautifully...
